IHM Daily Mass Outdoor

Thanks to all who made it possible for us to have a safe and reverent Mass outdoor on Sunday! I am excited to be able to resume public Daily Mass at 7:00am T-F and 8:00am Sat.

It is very important that we do not lose sight of the fact that the COVID-19 Virus is a highly contagious and dangerous pathogen. We must maintain and continue our precautionary measures to ensure that we are protecting one another from the spread of the virus.

Please give particular attention to the following policies/information:

As you should remember, Bishop Deshotel has dispensed all Catholics in the Diocese of Lafayette from their obligation of attending Sunday Mass until further notice. This remains for all Catholics who cannot or choose not to attend Holy Mass for various reasons.

Therefore, all persons who are ill (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, loss of taste/smell etc.) as well as those with preexisting conditions should remain home and not attend Mass. Also, persons over 65 years old are at a higher risk of experiencing worse symptoms than others if they contract the coronavirus virus and should also consider not attending Mass. As Catholics have been doing since the stay at home order went into effect, they can watch televised live-streamed Masses at home.

Masses will be offered under the breezeway behind the church. The space is continually prepared to be clean and safe, and mindful of health needs and issues, to be a non-touch experience. Metal chairs are prepared with the proper social distancing. Parishioners may also bring chairs if they desire to sit on the lawn. Family units may sit in groups, but six feet away from other individuals.

According to State regulations, persons in public gatherings are strongly recommended to wear masks or face coverings. The face covering should be put on when exiting your vehicle, removed at the time of Holy Communion, and afterward until you get to your vehicle. You are asked not to assemble and socialize before or after Holy Mass, and to proceed immediately to your vehicles.

Instructions will be given for the distribution of Holy Communion at the Holy Mass.

Parishioners should park in the church parking lot and in the parking lot of the school.

Giving thanks to God for this grace of the possibility of attending Holy Mass after so many weeks, let us do all we can to safely make it possible. God bless!
